The right rate, at every point in the field

PrecisionFert develops digital tools to support agronomic decisions and optimise the application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The aim is to help farms use fertilisers more effectively, cutting costs, waste and environmental impact on arable land across the Veneto plain.

SOIL VARIABILITY CALLS FOR DIFFERENTIATED MANAGEMENT

Within a single field, soil characteristics can vary considerably. Applying a uniform fertiliser rate means ignoring these differences, at the risk of reducing the efficiency of fertilisation and the optimal use of nutrients.

Innovating management

Soil variability becomes a decision-making tool. Fertiliser application is adapted to the characteristics of the different zones of the field through variable-rate techniques.

Protecting air and water

More efficient nutrient application helps reduce nitrogen losses to water and the atmospheric emissions associated with fertilisation, supporting a more sustainable use of resources.

Improving economic sustainability

Optimising fertiliser application makes it possible to use inputs more efficiently and to assess whether adopting precision fertilisation pays off.

Agronomic metamodel

Processes soil, climate and crop data to estimate nutrient requirements.

Canopy vigour estimate

Multispectral imagery detects crop variability through the season.

Prescription map

Different fertiliser rates are worked out for each zone of the field.

Variable-rate application

The machine uses the variable-rate map to apply the fertiliser.
